BOLIVIA

Bolivia, the place we didn’t know much about that blew us away. We wish we could have stayed longer. The perfect place to learn Spanish, visit amazing beaches, and get lost in a maze of markets and history. The politics is mind blowing. Do not write this country off until you have visited. It’s one of the most affordable for the budget traveller. That doesn’t mean accommodation is less attractive or the meals are smaller, it’s the opposite.

VISAS

30 day visa on arrival for British citizens which is extendable for free at the National Migration Service in La Paz.  You will need a photocopy of your passport and a photocopy of your entry stamp into Bolivia so if you intend on staying longer than 30 days then plan your trip so that you are close to La Paz before your visa runs out. You may only extend 3 days before your stamp is due to expire.

When to Visit

You can visit Bolivia any time of year.

May - October | The dry season and a great time to do some hiking.

December - March | The rainy season is perfect timing for the Salt Flats.

November - April | the shoulder season will see fewer crowds and you will still get some sunshine.

Budget

A budget of £40 a day should see you have enough for a bunk in comfortable Hostel, a mixture of local transportation, posh coffee with enough left over for the occasional fun filled splurge. Mid Range Backpacker you might say. The local beer is Pacena and will cost you 20Bs (£2.30) for a Grande (1litre) - always a good indicator of the general price of things.
